Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme, (100 hours of Swachhta) announced by MHRD, Government of India in association with UGC was proudly taken up by Pharm D students of Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada. The main objective of the internship programme is to engage youth across the country and develop their skill and orientation towards village development. As such, students of NSS Unit and IPA, Enikepadu Local Branch divided themselves into six teams with members of ten each and worked in six villages for six consecutive weeks during Saturdays and Sundays, from 23rd June, 2018 to 31st July, 2018.
They have selected the villages, namely, Unguturu, Garapadu, Ponukumadu, Nagavarappadu, Tuttagunta and Vennuthala in Unguturu mandal, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. Accordingly, they have devised action plans for six weeks.
First week, a door to door survey was conducted followed by rallies on the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the second week. In the third and fourth weeks, cleanliness drives were organized while bringing awareness among the villagers about the necessity to dig compost pits. Power Point Presentations were held during the fifth week with the topics of Sanitation, Solid Waste Management activities, health related issues with a special focus on women’s health. Health camps were organized in the final week and they advised the villagers for various ailments like Hypertension, Diabetes, malnutrition etc. Medicines were distributed for free of cost from the institution’s Jan Aushadhi medical store.
The villagers and anganwadi personnel co-operated them in this initiative. Village sarpanches, government officers, employees of government schools appreciated the move made by the institution and suggested that conducting such health camps every month would benefit the villagers.

Mr. Gangadhar being specialized in Soft Skill Training Programmes, he has trained students and professionals at various levels of Personality Development, Presentation Skills, Team Building, Leadership Skills, Interviewing Skill, Business Communication Skills, Emotional Intelligence and Competency Building etc.
As part of learning, students pursuing Pharmaceutical Courses should have fundamental but essential knowledge about the techniques and steps to avoid fire accidents. Every year the institution is organizing an awareness programme to help the students not only help themselves, but also help the society. Mr. G. Narayana, a Chemical Engineer presents a detailed demonstrationon how to identify and remove fire hazards. The demonstration helped the students to acquire knowledge about fire safety measures to be followed when there is a fire accident at home or at the work place.
CPR is an first aid emergency procedure which is used when someone has a sudden respiratory problem or when the heart has stopped functioning. A team of doctors from Ramesh Cardiac Hospitals has arrived to impart this essential knowledge on CPR to students. Lt Colonel. Dr. Yanamadala Ashok, Dr. Gopi Krishna and Dr. Anusha provide the training.
